I was creating a piece for a submission to Daira Global under the theme of ‘childhood’. My childhood was nomadic, but we spent a few weeks in Pakistan every year until we finally moved here. What I remembered most about coming to Pakistan was wanting to travel in the colourful, bright rickshaws. I also remembered roaming through the tiny alleyways of Bohri Bazaar in Saddar, Karachi. So, when I found a rickshaw parked in Bohri Bazaar, this pretty much painted itself…

I also recorded it the process of this painting, though it was tough because I have been nursing a broken ankle for 15 weeks. Rehab is really hard, let me tell you!
